Shave Ice, Aloha Style and Thoughts
Yesterday morning I drove down to Waikiki and took a walk up Diamond Head road: This is the view that greeted me. I sat there for a bit, just taking in the morning sun, salt and, ahem, the view of surfers below. Deep breaths in and out, the pent-up stress melting away. Yet, I was mere minutes from Waikiki. I saw a few tourists making the walk too, also rewarded with beautiful views. I walked by the old local surfer crew that said an enthusiastic 'Aloha!' between sips of coffee, leaning against the bed of their trucks, chit-chatting with guys they're probably chatted with after a morning surf for years. It was one of those moments where you say to yourself, 'If only all those people in Waikiki could see this, this is what Hawaii's all about'.
It's funny, sometimes when people ask me what Pacific Bride Guide is all about, I get all tongue-tied. It takes a few seconds to unwind, but I always end up saying we're about bringing people the ins and out of the real Hawaii and giving you honest advice when it comes to choosing the right people to help you plan your Big Day. This image, shot by Pacific Bride Guide photographer James Rubio, sums it up without any words. When I look at this image I think, 'Wouldn't you want to get married like this too?'
Have you ever seen bridesmaids and groomsmen smiling more than this?
Forget the cake, in Hawaii, we're all about shave ice! I've been blogging about a shave ice truck at a wedding for the last year and these guys did it!
A wedding in Hawaii:
Lei for the bride and groom? Check.
Lots of color, swaying palms and sunshine? Check.
So happy you're skipping back up the aisle? Priceless.
This, my friends, is what Pacific Bride Guide is all about. Have a fun weekend and, eh, make it out to the beach if you can!
