WT01 Watches: Buy the Watch That is Right for You

By Hein Kok

Buying a watch can be an enjoyable experience that does not cause you to feel buyer’s remorse later on. However, if you are not careful, then you will end up regretting your purchase. So, buy the watch that is right for! Here is how you do it:

A watch most conform to your personality, your choice of brand, and the price.

Personality: What type of person are you? Charismatic? Stylish? Fashion conscious? Elegant? Sporty? Reserved? Your personality should be reflected in the watch you buy. It should be an extension of your personality and spirit. Look at what type of clothing you enjoy wearing and what your interests are so that you can make the best possible choice.

Brand: Do you know the brand? The most recognizable watch brands often provide superior quality and design. Most brands create sporty and stylish watches for example, Tag-Heuer have gold watches that are designed with the corporate employee in mind. However, they also have great sports watches that are endorsed by sportsmen like Tiger Woods, Yao Ming, and Kimi Raikkonen. Buy a recognizable brand for a wide range of choice and quality.

Price: This category is very influential in determining which watch you buy. I find that there is a threshold of around $1,000 that separates cheaper, less stylish, more basic watches from expensive, extremely stylish, detailed, and luxurious watches that are made of gold and are diamond-encrusted. Watches above this $1,000 threshold are Rolex, Cartier, IWC, and Breitling. However, other watch brands’ exclusive watches also cost more than $1,000, like Tag-Heuer for example. You MUST compare prices from different stores in order to get the best deal!
